Description

 

  • To understand and implement the activities contained within the “ways of working”.
  • To add a polite greeting and excellent service to the client always remaining professional.
  • To maintain a high profile visual deterrent in order to protect the staff and prevent and deter theft.
  • To assist Business Protection and Management teams in complying with security related disciplines and procedures.
  • Monitoring of staff, contractors and visitors entering / exiting site.
  • Conduct ID checks on arriving (unannounced or not) and departing visitors as part of turnstile entry/exit.
  • Manage the control of keys ensuring they are kept safe, secure and accounted for at all times.
  • Support the site with Fire Alarm activations/isolations and tests monitoring CCTV and inform other stakeholders.
  • Creating / Issuing ID Cards - Management of access cards including monitoring of Argos agency sickness registers - Stopping / Activating ID cards.  Manage all staff removal from site requests and general housekeeping etc. are done in a timely manner.
  • Answer internal telephone calls & ensure that all external telephone enquiries are dealt with professionally out of hours redirecting where appropriate.
  • Carry out the monitoring and patrols of CCTV managing any requests to view/download images.
  • Manage all lost / found property enquiries ensuring a clear audit trail.
  • Registering of mobile phones and personal items
  • Challenging Contractor Work Permits, providing support/escalation where necessary.
  • Support H&S policies and procedures on site (support visitors PPE) by monitoring and escalating issues.
  • Complete regular fire door and fire exit checks escalating any issues to management teams.
  • Ensure prompt response to any incident occurring on site escalating/requesting additional support as necessary.  Provide guidance/coaching/intel to the site teams responsible for this, if required.
  • Carry out site lockdowns & open up patrols to ensure the site can be securely locked down during close down periods.
  • Identify any issues which may endanger the health & safety of persons working on site such as, inadequate lighting, potential fire hazards, bailer, recycling and battery area checks/patrols and escalate issues to the Maintenance team.
  • Carry out security checks on fleet units, trailers & boxes in the parking bays checking security seals as required.
  • In addition to colleague, contractor and visitor searches, carry out other searches on warehouse racking, bin/waste/skip, pallet, toilets, ceilings, workstation and other parts of the site
  • Support with any checks on vulnerable/high risk merchandise and raise any concerns with Business Protection/Management teams.
  • To recover any discarded packaging and reporting stock loss on to the APIS system/Business Protection Hub.  Include findings within the DOB.
  • To report immediately to Management any actions of staff which give cause to suspect dishonesty or misuse of the client’s property.  In this regard, have knowledge of any staff purchasing schemes.  
  • To alert Management to any person thought to be suspicious in any way. This should be carried out using internal communication devices issued by the client or in person.
  • Check the building for possible water leaks from overflow systems in the toilets, washrooms or kitchen areas.  Report any findings to Management immediately. Include findings within DOB.
  • To follow the responsibilities on the ‘Site Duty List’ and understand avenues for escalation.
  • Provide guidance/coaching/intelligence to the site teams responsible for other duties listed on the ‘Site Duty List’.

 

Patrols 

  • The security officers will carry out patrols when it is operationally practical to do so.
  • Patrols are to be carried out at random and routes will be varied.
  • Start and finish times of patrol must be recorded in the Daily Occurrence Report book.
  • The security officer on patrol will remain in regular contact with the security base.
