Description
Portal Security are recruiting for two new roles for one of our key clients premises in Hayes. This is a dedicated educational institution committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for all students, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Our security team will play a crucial role in maintaining the welfare and safety of our campus community.
Job Summary:
We are seeking a kind, compassionate and physically fit Security Officer to join our high-quality team at a new Campus. The ideal candidate will have experience working with individuals with additional needs and disabilities, such as Autism and other neurodiverse conditions. The role will require a kind and compassionate response in understanding different behaviours, demonstrating empathy and patience. This role involves a variety of responsibilities, including safeguarding, patrolling, reception duties, CCTV monitoring and responding to incidents, including medical emergencies and fire alarms.
Your primary responsibilities will include:
- Campus Patrols: Conduct regular patrols of the Campus premises and wider grounds to ensure safety and security, identifying and addressing any potential hazards or safety concerns.
- Reception Duties: Serve as the first point of contact for students, staff, and visitors at the reception area, providing a welcoming environment and assisting with inquiries.
- Incident Response: Respond promptly to incidents, including medical emergencies, ensuring appropriate action is taken and reporting incidents as required.
- Medical Support: Provide first aid assistance as needed, with a preference for candidates trained in FPOS (First Person on Scene) or FREC (First Response Emergency Care) Level 3. Mental Health First Aid certification is also desirable.
- Fire Response: Actively participate in fire safety protocols, including conducting fire incident response and ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Welfare and Support: Offer emotional and practical support to students, particularly those with additional needs and disabilities, creating a safe and inclusive environment.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the wider Portal Security onsite management team and college community, including students, staff, and external agencies, to promote a culture of safety and support.
About You:
- Door Supervisor SIA Licence essential.
- CCTV Licence essential.
- Certification in FPOS or FREC Level 3, and Mental Health First Aid, or willingness to obtain.
- You will be required to have an enhanced DBS check.
- Experience working with additional needs and disabilities.
- Safeguarding qualification essential.
- Comprehensive 5 year employment history for vetting.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively and empathetically with a diverse range of individuals.
- Physically fit and capable of performing the duties required, including patrols and responding to incidents.
- Ability to remain calm and composed in emergency situations.
