Pay Rate: £15.25 per hour
Location: London
Hours: 4 on, 4 off rotation – days & nights (07:00–19:00 / 19:00–07:00)

We are recruiting an experienced CCTV Controller to join our corporate security team in London. This is a key operational role responsible for monitoring CCTV and security systems, identifying potential threats and suspicious activity, coordinating responses to incidents and maintaining accurate security records.
Working within a professional corporate environment, you will need to combine strong situational awareness and attention to detail with excellent communication, sound judgement and a calm approach to incident management.
Role Summary
As a CCTV Controller, you will play an important role in protecting people, property and assets through the effective monitoring and operation of CCTV, alarm and access-control systems.
You will maintain awareness of activity across the site, identify and assess potential security concerns, communicate effectively with officers and site management, and ensure incidents are appropriately recorded and escalated.
The role requires an individual who can remain focused and alert for extended periods, confidently prioritise information and make appropriate decisions when incidents occur.
You will also be expected to maintain a professional corporate standard and engage with ongoing training as security procedures, risks and technology continue to develop.
Please note that this is predominantly a control-room-based position and will involve prolonged periods of sitting and CCTV monitoring.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor CCTV systems proactively to identify suspicious activity, security risks and incidents.
- Operate CCTV, alarm, access-control and other security systems in accordance with site procedures.
- Maintain effective situational awareness across the site and respond appropriately to developing situations.
- Coordinate and communicate with security officers during incidents, patrols and operational activities.
- Assess information received through CCTV, radio, alarms and other systems and escalate concerns appropriately.
- Respond promptly to alarms, incidents and emergency situations in accordance with Assignment Instructions and site procedures.
- Maintain clear and accurate incident logs, occurrence records and security reports.
- Preserve and retrieve CCTV footage where authorised and required, ensuring appropriate handling and confidentiality.
- Communicate professionally and effectively over radio and other communication systems.
- Support incident investigations and provide accurate information to security management, the client and emergency services where required.
- Monitor access and egress and identify potential unauthorised or suspicious activity.
- Maintain confidentiality and comply with relevant CCTV, data-protection and client requirements.
- Conduct appropriate control-room handovers, ensuring relevant information and outstanding incidents are clearly communicated.
- Maintain a professional, alert and organised control-room environment throughout the shift.
- Carry out duties in accordance with Assignment Instructions, Risk Assessments and client procedures.
Person Specification
- Valid SIA CCTV (Public Space Surveillance) Licence – essential
- Valid SIA Door Supervisor Licence – essential
- Previous CCTV/control-room security experience strongly preferred
- Corporate security experience or experience within another professional security environment advantageous
- Strong CCTV monitoring and observational skills
- Excellent situational awareness and attention to detail
- Able to remain focused and alert during prolonged periods of monitoring
- Confident using security technology and computer-based systems
- Able to assess information and respond appropriately to developing incidents
- Strong written skills with the ability to produce clear and accurate incident reports
- Excellent radio and verbal communication skills
- Calm and confident when dealing with incidents and emergency situations
- Professional, reliable and punctual
- High standards of integrity, discretion and confidentiality
- Able to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider security team
- Experience using Genetec security systems is desirable
