Retail Security Officer

Main Duties

1. Store Security and Surveillance

• Monitor customer and employee activity throughout the store.
• Patrol sales floors, stockrooms, entrances and exits.
• Identify suspicious behaviour, security risks and policy breaches.
• Deter and prevent shoplifting, theft and other criminal activity.

2. Loss Prevention

• Help protect company property, stock and equipment.
• Assist with investigations into theft, accidents and policy violations.
• Follow store loss-prevention procedures and report concerns to management.

3. Incident and Emergency Response

• Respond promptly to security incidents, emergencies and disturbances.
• Support emergency evacuations and safety procedures.
• Liaise with management, emergency services and local law enforcement when required.

4. Reporting and Documentation

• Complete accurate incident, accident and loss-prevention reports.
• Record relevant details, witness information and actions taken.
• Report hazards, suspicious activity and security breaches promptly.

5. Customer Service and Compliance

• Enforce store policies and security procedures professionally.
• Remain calm, polite and approachable when dealing with customers.
• Monitor entrances and exits to ensure security procedures are followed.
• Work closely with store management and staff to maintain a safe environment.

Person Specification

• Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding licence, as required.
• First Aid certification is desirable.
• Previous retail or security experience is desirable.
• Excellent communication and customer-service skills.
• Right to work in the UK.
• Five-year checkable employment or activity history.
• Calm, reliable and professional under pressure.
